The funk keeps flowing this weekend with the release of Abandoned Acre, coolship-inoculated saison that was barrel aged for 18 months. Abandoned Acre is an ode to the forgotten simplicity of life on an old farm and brewed using rustic, traditional methods.
Brewed with a traditional saison malt bill, the beer was transferred into our custom-built coolship to slowly cool while collecting funk and microbes. The next day, we pitched our house saison yeast blend and open-fermented the beer for a week before transferring it into barrels to age for more than a year.
This once basic saison developed into something much, much more using this old-school way of brewing. Abandoned Acre packs loads of farmhouse funk alongside notes of citrus, oak, and black pepper.
Abandoned Acre will be available on tap and in 750ml bottles starting Saturday (4/21) at noon for $16 a piece; limit 2. Forgotten Barrel Society members can get in early to buy bottles starting at 11:30. Make sure you come early since our last bottle release went fast!
